Foliage Digital was founded by Baphuti, based in the East Rand of Gauteng, South Africa. With 20 years in tech — starting at 16 — the foundation of the business isn't theory. It's two decades of watching digital systems work, fail, and evolve.
The idea for Foliage Digital came from a frustratingly familiar experience: trying to find a professional, reliable digital service provider locally, and coming up empty. When the research followed, it confirmed what many small business owners already know — the gap isn't unique. Across South Africa's 3.5 million SMEs, the same story repeats: either agencies are priced for corporates, or freelancers lack the systems thinking to build something that actually works.
